Vlada’s family owns a beautiful apple, pear and walnut orchard only minutes from her  family home. Vlada’s childhood memories are filled with fun times of picking red crisp apples. Buckets of these delicious, fragrant and juicy apples were picked  and transported during the fall. Vlada said that the hardest part was not the labor itself but rather resisting to bite into another inviting apple on an already fruit filled tummy.

During the year, most of Vlada’s family meals were created around a seasonal harvest, which in months of fall meant a baking spree of delicious desserts containing apples, walnuts, hazelnuts, pears and so many other wonderful fruits and nuts.

One of the quickest and easiest desserts that Vlada’s grandmother would make was Baked Stuffed Apples. Her grandmother called  it an ‘everyday’ kind of dessert which meant this was an effortless baking.  Compared to some of her other torts and cookies, Vlada said that the Baked Stuffed Apples were truly too easy to make, even kids could do it.
