At Vlada’s Seeds of Life, we believe that planting a seed is about so much more than growing food That is why we are incredibly excited to announce our new partnership with the Palm Springs Public Library and their inspiring seed library initiative.
From the very beginning, it was clear that this program was created with passion, creativity, and a true commitment to serving the community. What started years ago with a beloved 50-year-old monstera plant gaining attention online has blossomed into something truly special — a growing movement encouraging people of all ages to discover the joy of plants and gardening.
Through Earth Day plant giveaways, community engagement, and now the development of a seed library, the Palm Springs Public Library has become a vibrant “plant hub” where education and inspiration come together. Even during library renovations and limited space challenges, their team remained dedicated to finding ways to keep gardening education alive and accessible to the public.
We are especially inspired by their vision for the future: expanded seed collections, integration with makerspaces, collaborations with community gardens, farmers markets, and master gardeners, and educational outreach focused on helping families learn how to successfully grow food in the unique desert climate of Southern California.
Gardening in extreme heat presents real challenges, and having trusted community resources can make all the difference. The library’s commitment to becoming a reliable educational resource for gardeners of all ages aligns beautifully with our mission at Seeds of Life.
We are thrilled to support this growing program and are currently planning to send seeds to the Palm Springs Public Library as early as June of this year. We hope these seeds will help spark excitement, encourage hands-on learning, and empower more families to experience the magic of growing something from the ground up.
Programs like this remind us that libraries today are about so much more than books — they are places where communities gather, ideas grow, and futures are planted one seed at a time.
